The scene begins with one of my students approaching my desk. He approaches it most days at the break, to tell me some joke from the paper.

Student 1: "Do you want to hear a joke?"
Me: "Sure, but I've got one for you, too. It's short. Only three words long."
Student 1: "OK."
Me: "Toronto Maple Leafs."

Student 2, sitting behind Student 1 hears this, as he was intended to.

Student 2: "Oh yeah?! I've got a three-word joke for you... Montreal!"
Me: "Actually, that was pretty funny."
