It's pretty friggin' cold out, eh? Negative 20 degrees plus the wind chill, down to -26 (and feeling like -38) tonight. The thermo's set higher than normal inside, at +20, but it's barely above 18 in here. Anyway, aside from the lesson in integers, I have a piece of water cooler chat for you that I don't think I told you before.
Ever hear the phrase, "Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey"? It's perhaps a true saying, but it doesn't actually mean a simian-like statue. My favourite explanation is that a triangular pyramid of cannon balls was called a monkey, and when it would get cold, the metal would contract, thereby making the balls fall off the brass (or other metal) monkey. After a bit of research, I found this to be not necessarily true.
While I'm a little disappointed that I shattered my own cool little belief, at least I know better now. Feel free to arm yourself with this knowledge!

We were in the deep freeze for over a month. Finally we are having a chinook. When one side suffers, eh?
Keep yourself warm!
